The fuel-reduction assistance grant program on ODF’s Southwest Oregon District is suspended until the end of fire season. The forest officers who make the site inspections and fill out the paperwork for the grants are the same people who run initial attack engines during summer.
A grant reimburses a landowner up to $400 for a project that results in a 100-foot fuel break around a home, and along the home’s driveway.
Funds are available to continue the program in the fall. Watch this space for information about when the program will resume.
